I was born here, in Canada, right on the good firm, wet land we call Vancouver. After living here for a year, I went back to live in Taiwan for three years, where I learned to talk, walk, sing, dance and be a crazy weird kid.
I don’t necessarily understand why my parents decided to have another two kids after me. Truly, I was one weird baby. I only would drink milk while sleeping, which progresses to only being able to eat 10 ultra-thin Chinese noodles for lunch/dinner. I was surprisingly hyper without food and grew up fine. My parents had me drink traditional natural Chinese medicines to improve my appetite, but it only succeeded to make my teeth go black! (I have pictures!) Frog legs and soup were also appetite improvers, but I don’t remember being fed that. Meals, sleeping and math were my hates since I can remember, but after gr.5, I could sleep anywhere, in the middle of class, on a bus, car, airplane, couch, floor, toilet… Food should be a celebration. Math…didn’t change so much. Though I’m pretty good at it now. I grew up with music around me all the time and lots of stories and play time in parks. My imagination flowered while traveling to exotic places in my basement and reading and writing voraciously.
I was always the one playing pretend games in the park and leading the whole class out the class window at lunch. (That was ninja.)
