It has come to the end of 2010 as well as my year of being 16. So, I figure it is once again time to point out the highlights of the year and set my sights for 2011. I was searching through my old blog, at the post I wrote this time last year, and I had to smile not only at all the good memories, but also the amount of stuff I did succeed in doing! (Please note that the sections entitled “Things I discovered about myself” is still very relevant)
Success in 2010 (italics are things I wrote last year)
- Driving! –heck yes. Driving test in 3 days!
- Another adventure trip (location to be determined) –so wonderful yet also dramatic, making it an odd topic to address
- Finish up my life guarding courses –NLS, Waterpark, AWSI, and many volunteered hours with swimming lessons done.
- Maybe, I’ll teach a class at Taekwondo – why yes I did! I also learned to use the debit/credit machine, place a belt order, change the display walls, and was even left in charge of monthly payments for a while.
- Train and test for my Black Belt – HUGE. One of the happier evenings of my existence probably…
- Plan for Cuba (Music Department trip) Spring 2011 – so stoked.
- I have GREAT friends who I love spending time with –still love ‘em all!
- I plan on getting really good at playing the French Horn –I played a piece of Mozart for an entire audience in June and at the winter concert, the French horn was spontaneously recognized and complimented by the music teacher
Also….
- Finished TALONS, the school program I had been involved in for the last 2 years –a bittersweet ending as although it felt right to leave I really miss having classes with all my friends all afternoon all year sometimes…
- Went Backpacking threw the Rockies for 5 days/4 nights… carrying your life on your back for that long a time is absolutely spectacular
- Global Issues Symposium for Youth 2010
- And a bunch of other conversations, events, happenings that were wonderful
2011
- CCCUUBBBBAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Learn guitar
- Have my N
- Perform in Wizard of Oz
- Wicked is coming to Vancouver
- Run a half marathon…
Not to mention I will finish grade 11 and start grade 12. And before you ask, the answer is No. I don’t know what I want to do after high school, it’s a lot of big decision making that I am not ready for so everyone asking me what my plans are, only help me confirm that I still don’t know. I think this is the reason why I feel a bit more skeptical about this year than last… there is so much to look forward to yet so many decisions to make. Am I the only one who wishes that Peter Pan would take me to Neverland so I could spend some time colouring and going down slides in playgrounds, not stressing over jobs and homework? Anyways…
Life is really what you make of it, so 2011 will be a fabulous year if I let it be. Best wishes for the new year
